This week, Caffi Clywedog hosted our second veterans coffee morning with age UK, and we were glad to see such a positive response.
We provided coffee and cake so all that was left to do was to enjoy them with some conversation. The conversation was highly active with people talking about everything from their time and experience in the forces, to what they have been up to recently.
The conversation was animated all morning with more people turning up and joining in throughout. It was great to see people from Llanidloes and also the wider communities within Powys come to join us. Some people knew each other while others did not, however it wasn’t long before everyone was introduced to one another and chatting away.
While chatting with people we found that there was an overwhelming sense of connection after such a long time spent in isolation during Covid-19 lockdowns. People meeting old friends and making news ones. It was lovely to see everyone so happy.
At 11.00, some of the Craft with a Cuppa group members began to turn up for their weekly meeting and ended up joining in the conversations while sat down with their craft projects. The two groups mixed together really well, bridging the age gaps, with a lot of interest in the needle felting with conversations gravitating towards that topic.
Overall, it was a great day which we look forward to doing again. If you’re interested in joining in with either the Veterans Coffee Mornings or Craft with a Cuppa, then please sign up to our newsletter to find out our latest news and events.
